School holidays can be a difficult time for Action for Children families – without access to free school meals they often struggle to find the extra money needed to feed the family over the six week break. And there is certainly nothing left over for days out or trips for the children to talk about when they return to school.
As one of the providers in East Devon of the Holiday Food and Activities programme, Action for Children were thrilled to be partnering with the team at World of Country Life this summer. Their generosity allowed some of the young people we support to enjoy an exciting day at the park (very exciting when one of the deer tried to take a whole bucket of food from one of them!) as well as benefit from a healthy lunch provided by the park’s hospitality team.
Their kindness really gave our families a summer to remember. Debbie, Steve and all of their colleagues took so much thought and care arranging these fantastic holiday programmes and we are hugely grateful to them for all of their hard work to make these days out so special.
A big thank you must also go to Stagecoach Buses, Peak Taxis and Bay Travel Taxis who arranged all the transport to and from the park for our families. Between them they helped us give these vulnerable children a wonderful safe and happy childhood experience that they so deserve.
